The Centro Cultural
São Paulo architecture itself already provides the multidisciplinarity
to the events and the Curatorship and Programming of Centro Cultural São
Paulo does not only seek to mix the fields it composes but also the segments of
each field.
Its diverse programming offered free or at popular prices, attracts
different classes of the population, making of the Centro Cultural São
Paulo one of the most democratic cultural spaces of the city. In 2009, it received
more than 819 users, number of visits comparable to the biggest museums and cultural
centers of the world.
Division
of Curatorship and Programming The
Division of Curatorship and Programming (DCP) is composed by five artistic areas
and one interdisciplinary curatorship. Its programming is aimed to intensify the
institutional guidelines like the accessibility programs (in the physical space,
in the programming and in the virtual space http://www.centrocultural.sp.gov.br/acessibilidade) and programs of collaborative network, like the inauguration of Anilla Cultural, a Spanish-American network of cultural equipment in different countries. The curatorial
axis Art - City - Culture, implanted in a new form for the biennium 2010/2011,
establishes a conceptual vein and a continuous planning for the CCSP curatorships,
to the detriment of fragmentary programming.
Interdisciplinary
Curatorship
It invests on the
risks of research and experimentation, valuing integrated artistic processes.
Coordinates projects carried out in collaboration with other curatorships that
contemplate various artistic areas, comprising documentation and collection. Meeting
the wish of the Institution to encourage the interdisciplinarity, this Curatorship
offers a ground so that the interdisciplinary processes of research and creation
can be fertilized and developed, also concerned with the documentation and the
debate about the possible relations and contaminations among the artistic languages.
Thus it expects to contribute for the creation of spaces that work as laboratories,
in the practical and theoretical scope and promote the artistic exchange and the
relation among artists, public and institution.
Dance
Curatorship
It proposes projects
that seek the integration among the diffusion, creation, research, teaching and
reflection in dance.
This year of 2010, it inaugurates a new phase, from
the cultural axis Dança Expandida [Expanded Dance], that establishes
a way of operation and a proposal guidance basis in this language, motivating
and encouraging interrelated actions, different formats, interdisciplinary proposals
and meeting and dialogic spaces.
Among the main projects for this year are
the Semanas de Dança -Diálogos [Weeks of Dance - Dialogues],
2nd Edition of the Novos Coreógrafos - Novas Criações: Site
Specific [New Choreographers - New Creations: Site Specific] and the launch
of Entre Todas as Coisas [Among All the Things]/ and Dança Expandida
[Expanded Dance], programs that will initiate this curatorial proposal.
The proposal also enlarges its reach to partnerships with other curatorships and
institutions, like the case of Seminário Verbo Conjugado [Conjugated
Verb Workshop], of Zona de Risco, of EI! Encontro de Improvisação,
of Plataforma da Dança and of Entorno - Encontro Latino-Americano de Dança
Contemporânea [Spanish-American Contemporary Dance Meeting], to mention
some examples.
Audiovisual Curatorship
It
organizes and thinks the audiovisual through its most contemporary manifestations,
contrasted and related to the Audiovisual development since its roots; working
with new and renowned artists, with the national and international cinematography,
bringing to Centro Cultural, through partnerships with other countries, a new
and representative audiovisual production, promoting also the Brazilian audiovisual
in international exchanges.
Lately, the audiovisual programming has been mixed
more and more with other areas of Centro Cultural São Paulo, also showing
works of new directors educated by a hybrid audiovisual culture, contributing
for the formation of a new generation of artists without prejudice of formats
and prepared to an audiovisual culture rich in possibilities.
Theater
Curatorship
The theater programming
is established with the idea of stimulating the production of experimental characteristics,
involving the research of theatrical language for children, youth and adults.
Several theatrical groups, from the most important theater of São Paulo,
had this stimulation in the beginning of their path and with it they have consolidated
their work. However, not only groups of the city, but from all over the country
and other countries, were and have been welcomed in the Centro Cultural São
Paulo spaces.
Besides the normal programming, the theater curatorship develops
projects that propitiate the debate and reflection about contemporary theater
aspects, by means of seminars, dramatic readings, workshops or more comprehensive
projects.
Music Curatorship
It has its space at Centro Cultural São Paulo not only at the concert and
show rooms, but also in Web-Radio, in the Paradas Sonoras [Sound Stops] and on its material shape as disks, books and scores in the collections of Oneyda
Alvarenga Discotheque.
In relation to the live music programming the Music
Curatorship always seek integration between the music collection and the music
presentations.
The music programming basically seeks to serve the diverse
publics: from the popular to the erudite, passing by the contemporary music.
Visual
Arts Curatorship
It keep activities
aimed to the disclosure of the contemporary art in the city, carrying out regularly
exhibitions, publications and debates, but also practical and theoretical courses
in the area, in partnership with the Department of Cultural and Educational Actions
(DACE) of the institution. Such program is established in at least three fronts:
with the incentive to the recent artistic production, of artists beginning their
professional careers and of names fixed in the art media in Brazil and abroad;
when propagating the collection and defending a policy of acquisitions of the
City Art Collection, kept at the Centro Cultural São Paulo and constituted
of reference works of Brazilian modern and contemporary art; and by means of exchange
with agencies of cultural representation of other countries.
Division
of Educational Action
The
Division of Cultural and Educational Action acts to bring together the contemporary
cultural production public, stimulating the exchange of acquaintance. Its objective
is also to increase the public and, above all to make them to consider in a critical
way, not only the Centro Cultural São Paulo, but also the city and the
culture.
The division is divided in two main areas: the Mediation and the Workshops
area. Moreover, it develops a series of other projects that are used to be transdisciplinary
and with which it works with the maximum of partnerships.

Centro Cultural São Paulo, a laboratory of creation and presentation

the options of activities usually presented in that place.

developed from a series of activities-programs that involve the CCSP space and
the human relations established there. The city as mediator between art and culture

Paradas em Movimento [Moving Stops]
Aiming to create a decentralized
platform for the exhibition of audiovisual works, ten points of multimedia
exhibition were installed strategically in places of great public abundance.
Each one of these points is composed by a 32'' LCD monitor, a sound dome
(directed sound emission equipment) and a support to place the viewer.
This furniture includes, also, a display to shelter the informative graphic
material related to each exhibition.
On
these supports, audiovisual works related to the various culture areas will be
displayed contemplated by the Centro Cultural São Paulo programming: arts,
cinema, dance, literature, music and theater. The Centro Cultural receives each
day around 2 thousand visitors, being the majority of them users of the libraries
or visitors checking events of a specific area of concert rooms or exhibitions
spaces programming. Many of the times, these users do not have the opportunity
to see the totality of the programming offered by the institution. When creating
a decentralized and independent platform of the places essentially for exhibition,
an essential approximation among the public, the discussions and the contemporary
cultural productions is encouraged.
The project Paradas em Movimento [Moving Stops] is a way to take to the passage places
of Centro Cultural an excellency programming in contemporary works that address
present relevance contents using audiovisual support: cinema, documentary, musical
video clips, video art, video dance, etc.

a new circuit of audition to the diverse material of the Discotheque. These points
are divided in four stations with different furniture and equipment shapes, each
for a specific need: Research station, LP audition, double audition and collective
audition.
It is important to
stress that only one part of the Discotheque collection is digitalized.
Of a total of 70 thousand disks, around 35 thousand phonograms have already been
computerized and, besides being part of the digital collection that will be gradually
inserted in the Paradas Sonoras [Sound Stops], they will contribute to
the original material conservation, mainly the rare works.
